Starting out with a bang...

For me, this year's RetroChallenge kicked off with a massive aerial fireworks display... July 1st is Canada Day, and this year it also coincides with my town's centennial celebration, so we were all treated to a death-defying pro-am incendiary spectacle... much more impressive than I had anticipated, and made even more exciting by the fireworks being launched in close proximity to a stand of fairly flammable spruce trees. Fortunately the audience (comprised mainly of inebriated teenagers) escaped immolation.

Anyway, on to more pertinent matters... this year's Challenge is looking to be a bit of a change from my previous efforts. This time round I have far too much graphics and web work lined up to permit the usual hardcore 8-bit-only approach. I'll also be travelling toward the end of the month too, so my biggest obstacle this year will be time... I actually have some serious regrets about this turn of events, as I've found in the past that taking a month off from the 21st century can be highly therapeutic. Hopefully the more demanding nature of my creative challenges will somewhat make-up for my deficiencies in the endurance event.
