Sines, sines, everywhere sines

Today was marginally better in terms of programming triumphs... I have mastered the sine wave, which is the fundamental building block of sound -- the DNA of DA, if you will. Remarkably, and against all odds, I managed to produce a sine wave that had both the desired frequency and length... the only problem is that synthesizing 1/4 second of audio with my carefully constructed AppleSoft program takes so long that you can make a cup of tea and nip down to the shop for biscuits.

I know I said I was putting this one aside, but for some reason cracking this nut is becoming something of a sad obsession.
