...and now, the crying!
Another RetroChallenge draws to a close... as usual I have very mixed feelings about it.
I completed one of the three projects I had lined up, which isn't a terribly impressive record, but I have to say I'm quite pleased with how that one project turned out. For those who missed the mid-month fanfare, the album-on-a-floppy project is available here.
I'm a feeling little bummed-out about not going in for the endurance challenge. Although I find it somewhat less than challenging, there is something to be said for its therapeutic value... previous RetroChallenges have served as a respite from the rigors of modern computing (mainly the gigantic pop culture sewer pipe that is the web). This year I didn't have that break, and I really miss it.
On the positive side, I'm happy that the turnout was much better this time around... 21 participants started the challenge and (more importantly) most participated to the bitter end. Kudos to wgoodf for this feat of administrative prowess!
Anyway, I don't have anything terribly wise or profound to say at this point... I'd just like to say thanks to a few people:
Dale Goodfellow for running the show
Lorance Stinson for putting up with us
at the RetroBBS
George Rentovich for keeping me away from eBay
and, of course, all the RetroChallengers, without whom etc... see you all next year.
...or sooner?
