News

News is another major component of C-suite. C-Suite uses the tin newsreader which is opened by using the "g news" command.

In order to receive news C-Suite requires a news server to retrieve the news from the internet. This may be provided by an internet service provider or the system can have its own news server. There are thousands of news groups availible on the internet, but it is possible to select which ones the news server will receive, so it is possible for the system admin to remove offensive or inappropriate groups.

When users open tin they are taken to a list of news groups that are subscribed to. It is possible for the system admin to select groups that users are subscribed to by default.

From the list of news groups users can select a particular newsgroup, which brings up a list of threads for that newsgroup. From there the user can select a particular thread and read the message.

In news it is possible post messages, reply by mail, and reply by news (followup) by using the Pico editor.

Tin also offers a number of other commands like kill, save, and search.
