How to Setup Chebucto Wireless

To connect, you will need to have a wireless 802.11g network adapter for your computer. Look for an SSID called Chebucto Wireless. If there are more than one, select the one with the strongest signal. You can access your wireless settings from Windows Start button - Connect To. Most Wireless cards also put an icon in your taskbar System Tray next to the clock, and you can access the wireless settings from there as well. At the present time we are only supporting Windows XP and Windows Vista connections. Users with Macintosh computers and technical knowledge are invited to contact the Chebucto Community Net office to help us with Macintosh setup instructions.

Your connection to the Chebucto Wireless service should look like this.
You are now connected to the Chebucto Wireless Free Access.

To connect to the Chebucto Wireless Full Access you will need to have a Chebucto Plus level membership in the Chebucto Community Net. If you are a Chebucto Plus member, download and install the Chebucto Wireless VPN setup program (Windows XP, Windows Vista only).

IMPORTANT! Only run this setup program if the Publisher is listed as Chebucto Community Net.

Once the Chebucto Wireless VPN has been setup on your computer you can connect to the Chebucto Wireless Full Access service with it. You first connect to the Chebucto Wireless Free Service, then open the Chebucto Wireless connection and put in your Chebucto username (remember, it is small letters and NEVER includes "@chebucto.ns.ca") and your Chebucto Plus password (NOT your email password) and hit the Connect button.

Any computer connected to the Chebucto Wireless Full Access must be logged in using the Chebucto Wireless Virtual Private Network. It is against the terms of the Chebucto Community Net User Agreement to connect or network any other computers to a computer on the Chebucto Wireless Full Access service. Sharing a Chebucto Wireless Full Access connection with other computers is a theft of service and stealing from a charity is pretty low, so don't do it.
