About the Topic: Dramatic changes are underway in the economies of the Atlantic Provinces. We have a higher proportion of our economy in rural areas, we are more dependant on government, and we have a more traditional economic base. All of these are changing at a break-neck pace. Our province and our region will be a much different place in 10 years. Economists and analysts, particularly those concerned with public policy, have a stake in how our economy is evolving.
About the Speaker: Elizabeth Beale was appointed as President and CEO of the Atlantic Provinces Economic Council in 1996, Prior to this, she was APEC's chief economist, and a consulting economist based in Halifax.
