Dear colleague: I am writing to you to ask for your active participation in the Atlantic Association of Applied Economists (AAAE). This association is focused on improving information sharing and networking among policy and business analysts across Atlantic Canada, and through the Canadian Association for Business Economics (CABE), across Canada. Demands on analysts for new ideas, approaches, and opinions on economic issues have never been as great. However, opportunities to for idea exchange and learning are sometimes limited. AAAE provides a unique forum for idea sharing, networking and career development. It's an opportunity for seasoned professionals to mentor new entrants into the field. It's an opportunity to renew and strengthen working relationships In the past the AAAE has been involved in giving members access to some of Canada's leading opinion maker. Past speakers have included leading bank economists, economic forecasters, federal and provincial deputy ministers, business journalists, and others. The AAAE luncheons and seminars provides opportunities for idea exchange in an informal collegial environment. AAAE has also provided opportunities for professional development by providing learning sessions on venture capital, competitive intelligence, and other topics of current importance. Membership in the AAAE also brings associate membership in the Canadian Association for Business Economics. CABE members receive, regular newsletters, the quarterly Canadian Business Economics Journal (recognized as the best business journal in Canada), the Annual National Salary Survey, and the CABE membership Directory. If you are interested in membership, please complete the attached form. There are no restrictions on membership based on academic or professional qualifications. The $60 fee will be a good investment professional development. If you have any questions about participation please feel free to give me a call at 902 424 6172. We are planning an aggressive program of events beginning next month. I look forward to seeing you at the next scheduled meeting on March 11 when Francis MacKenzie will be speaking about Nova Scotia's aggressive new approach to business development.
