The Association for Media Literacy - Nova Scotia was founded in November 1992 to promote media literacy among students, parents, educators and the general public. Members include teachers, parents, students and media professionals and is open to everyone

Our activities have included three public lectures by media literacy specialists from Ontario, co- sponsoring a full-credit course in media literacy at the Mount Saint Vincent University summer school, a curriculum workshop for teaching media literacy, parenting in the TV age workshops, meeting with the Minister of Education, a fledgling newsletter and the establishment of the Gordon Parsons Bursary Fund.

AML-NS is a member of the Canadian Association of Media Education Organisations (CAMEO/RACEM) and part of the international network of media education organisations, including Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, India and the USA.

Benefits of membership include receiving information about media literacy and related events, Mediacy, the newsletter of the Ontario Association for Media Literacy, the AML-NS newsletter and proceedings of meetings, opportunities to exchange information, resources and ideas with people actively engaged with media and media literacy education.
