About the Metro Coalition for a Non-Racist Society

The Metro Coalition for a Non-Racist Society is a volunteer-run, non-profit society established in 1991 in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a group of primarily white people working to end white racism and to support the anti-racism struggles of people of colour and Aboriginal people.

Some of the ways we fight racism:

  • supporting African-Canadians, new Canadians, and Aboriginal groups financially and by taking part in events
  • monitoring the media and writing letters to the editors
  • presentations on white privilege and anti-racism for white people in schools and at work places
  • public events on the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination
  • organizing demonstrations and letter-writing campaigns
  • distributing Racism: Whose Problem?, a booklet about anti-racist action for white people
