Canadian born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, I was raised in the Ottawa Valley. My home and studio is now in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Educated in commercial and fine art I became a graphic designer. In the mid-90s I turned my attention back to full time drawing and painting.

I am an artist - a painter - and I enjoy illustrating picture books, some have won awards. I'm also an author.

My paintings are acrylic on canvas, or sometimes hotpress watercolour paper. When I'm not working on commissions I paint plein air, mostly in Nova Scotia, but some other great places too. My wife is Susan Tooke and whenever we can we take off painting together. The plein air paintings are pretty special to me.

Many of the paintings on this website, and quite a few more at the studio are for sale. I often give people a tour of the studio and galleries, and if it's the season, the garden.

The subjects which interest me the most:

-landscapes
-contemporary genre
-historical

I have accepted many interesting commissions from individuals to the Halifax Army Museum and the Royal Canadian Navy.

Not long ago Susan and I took eight other artists, writers and photographers to Sable Island for a week so we could paint there.
