Hub Trackers Square Dance Club was formed in Truro during the winter of 1976/77. The Club Caller Couple is Jack & Dolores MacArthur. The Club began as a Plus Workshop that started out at the Vocational School in Truro. In the beginning, they danced through Continuing Education. However, after a few years, the hall they were dancing in was to be made into a theatre and since the Dept. of Education could not provide another hall on a Friday night, they moved to the Brunswick Street United Church Hall on Brunswick Street in Truro where they are still dancing.
At the start, the Hub Trackers danced every second Friday night but now they dance every week from September until December, finishing out the year with a New Year's Ball. They begin dancing again in April and dance until the end of May. Dancers come from many areas of Nova Scotia, ie. Amherst, Antigonish, New Glasgow, Halifax and Annapolis Valley. The Club Caller Couple team up with Hilton & Vi MacIntosh along with Alex Ritchie and Bernice Thurber for the New Year's dance.
Over the past 24 years, the Club has enjoyed great success and has had many happy times. The dancers that attend every week are a special group, each with an individual input that helps make the Club itself special, truly a Club where FRIENDSHIP IS SET TO MUSIC and enjoyed by all.
