Hi all:
$21 000 000 to construct wildlife fences at sites of frequent
animal/vehicle collisions? That's a lot of money, which will NOT go
into education, health care, social services, environmental protection,
etc. Will the fences work, or simply shift the collision hotspots to
unfenced areas? And what will be their effect on wildlife populations
if they even more fragmented? I would have thought that driving more
slowly, or not driving at all in fog or darkness, would be more
effective in avoiding collisions. And a lot cheaper.

P.S. I thought that those stile-like one-way doors seen along fenced
highways in N.B. are for people to pass through, not necessarily animals.
