Hi Andy et al,
Very often at this time of year, birds do stop coming to our feeders. =
However, this year, for some reason, we still have lots of activity. =
Goldfinches, purple finches, mourning doves, rock pigeons, red-breasted =
nuthatch, black-capped chickadees, starlings, crows, hummingbirds and =
most recently common grackles are at the feeders, while all these =
species as well as robins, blue jays and today a magnolia warbler use =
the bird bath. Never underestimate the power of a bird bath to attract =
birds and provide a display of activity one only seldom sees in a more =
natural setting. It can often be quite humorous!
And no crows were seen on the drive to CSI and back...!!?? =
Incredible!
Cheers,
Bob McDonald

Subject: [NatureNS] Lack of birds
Is anyone else experiencing a sudden loss of birds at feeders or =
around the garden?
We were filling feeders daily until about two weeks ago when =
everything stopped showing up.=20
The only species feeding here now are hummingbirds.
I drove to Cape Sable with a friend yesterday and saw some good =
flocks of waders there but as as far as land birds went we saw only six =
species on the drive there and back. Goldfinch, Starling , tree swallow, =
mourning dove, robin, and ruffed grouse.
