Hi Angus,
Great shots. The moth you photographed may be the Yellow-collared Scape
Moth(cisseps fulvicollis). I noted that the photos were taken in September
2006. Bug net.com notes that the adult Virginia Ctenucha Moth flies from
May-July while the adult Yellowed collared Scape Moth flies into late fall.
I remember this because there was a very large influx of the Yellow-collared
Scarp Moth late last summer here in north CB and they were originally ID'd
as Virginia Ctenucha. Just a thought. Perhaps Chris or someone more
experienced will comment. All the best.

Most will recall seeing this moth although they probably remember the adult
whose body appears quite dark. This species is quite common across NS in the
fall.

this using binoculars!)
