We have a large crabapple tree in our Halifax yard
that burst into bloom a couple of days ago. Half a
dozen house sparrows have spent most of that time
pulling petals from the blossoms - just one petal from
each blossom.
I've been wondering what they're after - insects,
nectar, or something else? They don't seem to be
eating the petals.
