counted by Ted Wolkowski -- observations from 8:10 to 9:10 p.m. (Sunset
8:50) -- scattered showers, wind from north, damp, 15 C. -- 40+ swifts
entered chimney at 8:35, 1 at 8:37, 2 at 8:41, 3 at 8:51, 2 at 8:56, 1 at
8:58, 2 at 9:00.
May 30, 2007 - ROBIE TUFTS NATURE CENTRE AT DUSK: 72+ TOTAL CHIMNEY SWIFTS
SEEN -- observations from 8:10 to 9:30 p.m. (Sunset 8:51) -- calm, overcast,
16 C. -- 18 swifts entered chimney at 8:53, then MERLIN ATTACKED
(unsuccessful), then SWIFTS CHASED MERLIN AWAY (as often happens when swifts
become aware of a flying merlin) -- no more swifts¹ entries until 9:08, when
47 entered over a minute or so, then 2 more at 9:13, 1 at 9:18, 4 at 9:25 --
