Dear All, July 14, 2007
I went out this afternoon to map a woods road and take some photos
and, while waiting for sun, just enjoyed the surroundings by standing
still or walking very slowly. We had heavy rain late Thursday and the
moist soil made for quiet walking conditions.
Highlights during this slow motion period were:
A female hummingbird that flew in and landed on a nearby twig, just
above eye level, and then flew 3-4 times to other nearby twigs before
moving on.
A green Tiger Beetle (C. sexgutta) that took off from a cubit away and
landed on an ~horizontal Bilberry (Amelanchier) twig about arms length
away.
& A Rabbit (Snowshoe Hare) that loped onto the road and then zig-zagged
50 paces or so before exiting on the other side.
