I spent a couple of hours on Saturday afternoon (Oct. 6) on Conrads Beach.
I had to search for a while for the local shorebirds. Eventually I found them on the separated beach facing the Lawrencetown direction.
Species observed: Sanderlings (a minimum of 200 - 250 moving in 3 or 4 groups), Semipalmated Sandpipers (100-150), Semipalmated Plovers (at least as many as Sanderlings, likely more hiding between the rocks way up above the high water line, mostly juveniles), Dunlins (approx. 25), and a single Piping Plover (likely the one already reported on Friday, a juvenile bird -unbanded-).
The shorebirds where quite calm and approachable, only flushed twice when a Northern Harrier came down the beach and a bit later when a juvenile Peregrin Falcon came across from Lawrencetown.
Cheers
Ulli
