Wolfville, Sat Jan 12 / 08:
The Clay-coloured Sparrow continues to visit Jim Wolford's feeding station
in Wolfville.
After a disappointing previous attempt to see it, I was delighted to find
the Clay-coloured Sparrow included in a mixed flock of sparrows - 5
White-throats, the imm. White-crowned, one Am Tree Sparrow and a sprinkling
of Juncos - that arrived shortly after 11.15 a.m. this morning. Jim has not
seen the Chipping Sparrows for several days and was even wondering if the
Clay-coloured had moved on. The arrival of a pair of N. Cardinals was an
additional treat, along with a pair of N. Flickers, several Blue Jays,
Bl-cap Chickadees and a Red-br. Nuthatch.
While I was there today I heard Pine Grosbeaks calling, and found four
sitting in trees in a neighbour's yard.
I had noted four across the road from Jim's yesterday - possibly the same
ones?
Cheers,
Judy Tufts
