CEC, WWF-Mexico seek input on monarch conservation
Montreal, 29 April 2008 =E2=80=94 As part of trinational efforts =
to better inform decision-making in protecting the monarch butterfly and =
its habitat, the Commission for Environmental Cooperation and World =
Wildlife Fund-Mexico are gathering information to:
1.. identify priority areas for the monarch butterfly throughout =
the migratory flyway, including breeding and wintering habitats;=20
2.. determine the main pressures and threats monarch butterflies =
face; and=20
3.. recommend solutions to establish government mandates and =
initiatives (public policies) for conservation.=20
Information you provide through an online questionnaire will =
assist in the implementation of a North American Monarch Conservation =
Plan currently under development.
Please forward this notice to colleagues and organizations =
involved in monarch butterfly conservation, education, research and/or =
monitoring.
