At Horton Bluff, the Verry Thrush has landed, (May 20), one day
behind the Grey Catbird. They were not singing this evening but
their throaty "che-urrr"........."che-urr" calls were plainly heard.

Yesterday I enjoyed Evening Grosbeaks (5 stayed a good portion of the
day ) and Rose-breasted Grosbeaks (at least one male and two females)
at my s.f. feeders. This evening in the last hour of sun, the sight
of our pink and white Magnolia tree and the sound of the Rose-
breasted Grosbeak in full song made a thrilling combination. The
Magnolia is at the peak of its bloom -hundreds of blossoms.

Amelanchier (Indian Pear, Shadbush, etc)) and Bluets (Houstonia
caerulea) are just nicely in bloom. The cooler air flow off the
Minas Basin keeps our blooming sequence about a week behind Wolfville
and Kentville areas.
