We entertained a Yellow-rumped Warbler several years back which took BOS =
seeds from our hanging feeder on the deck over a period of a week or =
two. That was at least 10 years ago.
The Pine Warbler which appeared one winter spent all its time at the =
suet - never did see it take sunflower seeds.

Paul et al., I'm intrigued by your warbler loving black-oil sunflower =
seeds. Surely that is very unusual -- has anyone else any experience =
with any sort of warbler eating sunflower seeds?

A couple of years ago my wife and I entertained a rare Townsend's =
Warbler at our house in Quispamsis, NB (he loved black oil sunflower =
seeds!). The bird came every 15-30 minutes to my feeders for about two =
weeks. Half of the serious birders in NB enjoyed the bird over tea in =
our living room. What we didn't know was that our local Sharpie was =
also observing! He came unannounced for lunch one day and picked our =
beautiful warbler out a crowd of 14 or 15 mundane American Goldfinches =
and there ended our warbler and our enjoyment. My wife almost saved =
the warbler but had a last minute second thought before she threw her =
coffee mug through the plate glass of our front window at Sharpie! Some =
would say she made the wrong choice though. She watched the whole =
attack sequence from 8 feet away and she was traumatized for three weeks =
by the whole experience! We missed all those nice people coming for tea =
every day too. Sharpie even had the nerve to come back an hour later =
for chick-a-dee dessert!=20
