Shubie park (HRM) abounds with lady's slippers (cypripedium acaule) at this
time of year. There are also painted trilliums, wild lily-of-the-valley,
clintonia, starflower, wild sarsaparilla, bunchberry, rhodora, and a shrub
which may be acer pensylvanicum (striped maple). I didn't look at it
carefully enough, but the long racemes of yellow/green flowers, mostly under
the leaves suggest this. There were viburnums as well. Also, of course,
wild strawberry, pink clover, dandelions, etc. Just take headphones with
you, to drown out the highway noise!

p.s. A good place to start a Shubie walk is at the end of the street of
fancy new houses on Micmac lake just beyond Micmac mall. Go under the
highway and turn left inside the housing development. Go to the end of the
road.

Slippers
Hi everyone:
One of the areas that I have been atlassing in Vaughan has been mostly
clearcut. There are moccassin-flowers for well over a km in every direction
and quite a few of them are white.
