One of my friends sent me a picture of a bird to identify - I =
never saw anything like it before. It appears to be a small bird with a =
crest - very light in colour. If someone will volunteer to have a look =
at it I will send you a picture. In the meantime I will be pouring over =
Sibley.=20
A second picture will come with the first. It is a male cardinal =
without a crest - at least that is my take. My friend has had a male and =
female cardinal for some weeks - probably they are nesting nearby. How =
could a cardinal lose its crest? =20
Roland.

Hello Sherman :
A beautiful photo. It is a Southern Lapwing (Tero Comun) - Vanellus =
chilensis.=20
Not sure why the crest is not showing though.=20
Cheers,

Subject: [NatureNS] Bird to identify!
Here is a link to bird a friend of mine (Roy Bishop) saw in Ushuaia, =
(Tierra del Fuego) on March 1. He is wanting to know its ID. To me it =
resembles a type of plover. =
http://web.mac.com/sherm39/iWeb/Site/main_index_files/bird_ushuaia.jpg
There are a number of well travelled birders on NatureNS, so I am =
hoping that someone will know, that would be very much appreciated.=20
