Probably the best reference is the " A Field Guide to the Dragonflies &
Damselflies of Massachustts" they now have a 2nd edition published . here
is the website you can order from "
www:state.ma.us/dfwele/df/nhesp
I believe its about $20:00 USD.
It has approx 90% of the NS species of odes . Its a great reference . I have
been using it since 2003 which was the first publishing. Has great pix of
male & female . with range and habitat notes. Its spiral bound . great for
desk top referencing. You will not be disappointed.
Cheers , Derek Bridgehouse

Subject: [NatureNS] a guidebook to local dragonflies and damselflies ?
Could someone kindly post - again - the name of the guidebook used to ID
Nova Scotian ( or Maritime) dragonfly and damselfly species? Someone has
done so on NatureNS already, but I have misplaced the reference.
I am inspired to try to identify some of the common local species, as my
peninsular Halifax garden pond just produced a crop of dragonflies, as
evident by the 50 or so empty larval exoskeletons attached to nearby
vegetation. Interestingly, I rarely see adult dragonflies (or damselflies)
in the vicinity of the pond...
