Today Clarence Stevens SR. =2C James Hirtle and Dorothy Poole=2C from the N=
ova Scotia Bird Society went out to Seal Island for the day trip. All othe=
r people who went were not really bird watchers=2C with the exception of on=
e or two who showed interest.

Notables. A herring gull still feeding two youngsters at once. The youngs=
ters could fly fine. Also=2C lots of young barn swallows being fed.

The locals say that puffins bred on one of the islands nearby with about 30=
individuals.

The locals also say that black guillemots produced young under the main wha=
rf. At least three pairs nested under there. They also said that there mu=
st have been more than one brood. =20

Now to the birds. The best bird was seen only by Clarence Stevens Sr. and =
his granddaughter. It was a LeContes Sparrow. Clarence saw this bird alon=
g the edge of the marsh grass and by the yellow shed near the waters to the=
left when you first come on to the island off the wharf.

Bird List for myself. The only other species seen which will not be listed=
was a swamp sparrow.
