Four separate clumps of feathers including lots of down and
located on a lawn with 8 or 10 feet between them, marked the
last moments of a bird. No feet, no head, just feathers.
Some of the smaller ones had a light brown hue, but most
were like these, gray and black.

The ones in this photo range from 3 3/4" to 5 1/2".

My first thought was Blue Jay, but there isn't a single blue
feather in the lot.

I'd appreciate any thoughts, or guesses as to what bird
these came from
