Yesterday at Mt Uniacke saw only my second Monarch of the summer. First was
back in late july in our backyard. This one yesterday was the first for
Aug. They seem to be a scarce critter so far this summer compared to the
same time in years past . Of course everything goes in cycles.

Also observed for the first time this summer was Hesperia comma aka Common
Brandon Skipper which tends to be our August flying skipper. Leps including
Common Wood Nymph (many), Clouded Sulfer and Fritilary sp . ( getting
rather worn now ) were also seen .

Three other species of skipper were seen those being : Dun, Pecks , and
European and these were singles only.

Even dragonflies seem to be a little scarce but the "ode du jour " was the
Swift River Cruiser aka Macromia i. Illinoiensis patrolling around and
easily distinguished with by its emerald green eyes and black body with
single yellow dot on tip of abdomen.

Any other leps observations especially if monarchs have been observed would
be greatly appreciated . . .
