Hi Everyone:=0A=0AAnother day, another drive up the Eastern shore for Nick =
and I. Two new lifers for us-a Boreal chickadee and a Golden-crowned Kingl=
et at the Mines Road, West Petpeswick. There were some Juncos also. The B=
oreal Chickadees pics are posted in my gallery under the album Chickadees: =
http://gallery.me.com/tumayoung=0A=0AWe also took a drive up to Middle Mus=
quodoboit where there was a report of Wood Ducks. We did see 6 at the litt=
le pond east of the high school. They were very shy and would not let us t=
ake their pictures. A hairy woodpecker was making a racket and robins wer=
e all over the place in fields and yards.=0A=0AFor those who are interested=
, my first language is Mi'kmaw (the proper name is actually L'nu) and I try=
to use it as much as possible as there are a few speakers left despite imm=
ersion programs. In my gallery, I use the Mi'kmaq names for the birds alon=
g with the common names so to try and preserve it for future generations. =
One thing for sure, I will from now on use the name Puju'k for the Double-=
CRESTED Cormorant. We had a good laugh as I'm sure some of you also did.=
