Hi Everyone:=0A=0ANick and I went out birding and photographing on Wednesda=
y. We went to Mahone Bay to see the Little Blue Heron. She posed for us (=
pictures at my gallery: http://gallery.me.com/tumayoung). We also went to=
Hermans Island where we seen/photography 5 Great Blue Herons (plus 4 more =
back with the Little Blue Heron), a Brown Creeper, Red-BREASTED Nuthatch ( =
I almost used crested but I double checked the Patterson book and it was ok=
to use breasted), Junco's, BC Chickadees, a purple finch, an OC Kinglet, C=
rows, gulls, Mallards, Ring Neck Pheasant (in stunning colours), A. Goldfin=
ches, Song Sparrows, Loon and Buffleheads (at Mahone Bay). We also ran int=
o Eliz Doull at the Oakland Road spot.=0A=0AWe were excited as we thought w=
e had seen two new lifers for us: the LB Heron and the Brown Creeper but wh=
en I arrived home to put them on my list, I discovered that the LB Heron wa=
s already on there. Apparently, we had seen it before when we were in Flor=
ida. Checked out pictures for that trip and sure there it was. So only on=
e lifer this trip but more to come.=0A=0AThe Mi'kmaq name for the Little Bl=
ue Heron is Tmkwatiknejij (jij meaning diminutive and the rest meaning long=
legged). Tmkwatiknej is used to refer to the Great Blue Heron.=0A=0A=0ATu=
