We have quite a number of cormorants at the mouth of the Barrington =
River just now. I see a number of people are dipping for kiacks so I =
assume they are starting their annual run up the river - much earlier =
this year than usual - food for both commorants, seals, people, and used =
by fishermen as lobster bait. The kiacks are much earlier this year =
than usual and I must go down to the point to see if there are seals =
there. I remember one year that I counted over twenty seals - a few =
harbour seals, but mostly what I think they call big gray seals. They do =
not eat the whole fish - they take a bite out of it where they will get =
the heart and leave the rest for the birds.
