At about 4:15 this afternoon,while I was checking for shorebirds on =
Eagle Head Beach,my wife Joanie pointed out a different bird about 30 =
feet to our right. I only got a quick glimpse through my binoculars, =
before it flew off across a pond and into a marshy area. When I =
relocated it again and got the scope on it,We had a scissor-tailed =
flycatcher. I called Dorthy Poole,and Gary Hartlen,who arrived a little =
later,and for the next hour we watched it work around the pond and marsh =
area as well as the gravel road and large beach rocks,feeding on =
insects. The address is near # 40 Hayes Road, Eagle Head,Queens County.
