Dear All, June 21, 2010
Yesterday, in the yard, I noticed a Cedar Waxwing perched near the top
of a 2009 Common Reed culm, vigorously yanking off tufts of infloresence;
nest lining I assume.
Today, Poison Ivy was in bloom at North Alton.
Also today, a small elegantly decorated and friendly wasp (yellow on
black except femora dark brown, tibia yellow and tarsi pale brown; Potter
wasp ?) somehow got onto the white plastic yard table (Perhaps when the
table was tipped over) but was unable to fly due to deformed distal fifth of
both forewings. And an assortment of known & unknown small beetles flew to
the table.
Yt, Dave Webster, Kentville
