Aug. 6, 2010 -- 31 Wolfville chimney swifts, counted by Judy Tufts &
Jo & Doris Bishop

Aug. 7, 2010 - 30+ Wolfville chimney swifts, counted by Jim Wolford
et al.

AUG. 8, 2010 - 38+ Wolfville chimney swifts counted as they dropped
into the chimney of Robie Tufts Nature Centre at dusk -- again I was
lucky to arrive just as one swift entered the chimney (earlier than
the two previous eves), so perhaps a few were missed, hence the plus
sign after 38 -- observations from 8:35 to 9:05 p.m. (Sunset 8:30) --
entry times for swifts were 8:35 to 8:37 p.m. for most of them (32),
then stragglers to 8:43 p.m., and the sky became quite dark with
clouds before it cleared again (thus very difficult to see for a few
minutes) -- sky half clear at start, but strong winds changed this
frequently during my half-hour vigil, sky turning quite dark and then
clearing, winds from west, warm, 23 C. -- observers Jim Wolford and
Kevin Curran (of Wolfville's Public Works dept., who will be showing
me a report on the state of the RTNC chimney and needed repairs, and
to talk about when this can be done -- Wolfville town has budgeted
$40,000. for this).

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville
