On Monday, Sept. 6, Rick Ferguson and I did some exploration of the eastern shore from Sheet Harbour to Ecum Secum. Like Pictou Co. this area of HRM did not appear to be a part of the fall-out of rarities from Hurricane Earl. Terns were seen in a few places, but I think all were Common Terns- 5 Sober I., 8 Beaver Hbr. and 2 Mitchell Bay.

There were 2-3 Baltimore Orioles, a Warbling Vireo, a Wilson's Warbler in the 45 species seen from Sober I.

At Harrigan Cove a somewhat large bat was briefly observed flying at mid-day.We could not get any details from our look, but it appeared larger than Little brown Bat.

Single Monarch butterflies were seen at Sober I. and East Quoddy.

Through the Riverton-Sheet Hbr. Road, there were many Flickers and Juncos and a Broad-winged Hawk near the south end of the Liscomb Game Sanctuary. (65 species of birds for the trip).

cheers
Ken
