Everyone Welcome:

Thursday, September 23, 2010 – Regular Meeting
NSMNH, 1747 Summer Street, Halifax, Nova Scotia, 7:30 p.m.
Before the main presentation, Ulli Hoeger will be giving a brief presentation of some of the bird pictures that he took over the summer. We are hoping to have brief showcases of the works of some of the better photographers in the group at the start of most meetings.

MAIN PRESENTATION:
Bicknell's Thrush: Unravelling the Mystery"

Becky Whittam of the Canadian Wildlife Service will talk about the Bicknell's Thrush, one of Nova Scotia's rarest songbirds that breeds in the remote highlands of Cape Breton. The talk will include a summary of research and conservation work that has been done regionally and internationally by the International Bicknell's Thrush Conservation Group over the last three years, including the use of geolocator technology to track migratory movements of this small bird.
