May I recommend the classic "To Know a Fly" by Vincent G. Dethier (1962)=2C=
 for some insights into some of the early methodologies for studying fly fl=
ight=2C energetics=2C and neurology.  (Dalhousie Killam Library may still h=
ave copies.)  It will probably surprise you!
