Kwe Msit Wen (Greetings All)

Nick and I took a quick trip to Cape Breton to see friends and family over the
long holiday. While there, we met up with our good friends, Allan and Cathy
Murrant who took us around. What a amazing day today.

Cathy showed me an Orange-crowned Warbler (finally some decent pictures) and a
new lifer for me: a Yellow-billed Cuckoo (no pictures). There were also song
sparrows, savanna sparrows, yellow-crowned kinglets, Black-capped Chickadees, a
Northern Parula, 20 Black-bellied plovers, one American Golden Plover, several
peeps, starlings, blue jays, a variety of gulls, crows and cormorants. We also
saw several flickers, a hairy woodpecker, a bald eagle and a red tailed hawk
being mobbed by crows.

Allan pointed out two Redhead ducks for us (but too far away to take a picture).
I did however manage to get a very close picture of a Green-winged teal. There
were all sort of Mallards, Wigeons, and what I call "over the fences" (all sort
of mixed up ducks caused by interspecies breeding). They look some what like
Mallards but with some Wigeon colours and/or black duck bodies. Lot of Herring,
Ring-billed, and Greater Black-backed Gulls along with Rock Doves.

We also saw a flock of Pectoral Sandpipers (around 30), a pair of Killdeer, and
5 Hudsonian Godwits ( a lifer for Nick) who were very pleasant and posed for us
while we took pictures. Will process these later on this week and post to my
gallery.
