I recently received the following report. =20

On Thursday=2C Sept.2=2C two days before Hurrican Earl rolled over top=2C a=
friend and I were heading to Halifax on our motorcycles and had a SAND HIL=
L CRANE land on the #103 hwy in front of us. I was leading and saw it circl=
e above and in front then land quickly and make a large hop to the side to =
avoid me. My fellow biker hadn't seen it till it hit the pavement and just =
barely missed striking it. It did look tired and I wouldn't doubt it was in=
a confused state. A rather interesting experience to put it lightly !- - I=
was able to identify it as I have for many years been an enthusiast and ha=
d been in Florida the past winter and encountered the species on a daily ba=
sis in the yard of our rented condo. I have to assume the bird was blown of=
f course by the storm as it worked it's way up the coast and became disorie=
nted ! - - - Thought you might be interested in this tale ! - - Best regard=
