Jane, I agree with the others that this is very probably a fleabane,
Erigeron sp., and you really need the old and better the new Roland's
(and Smith's) Flora of Nova Scotia, latest edition by Marian Munro
(Zinck). I believe the new Roland's Flora is available in all public
libraries and high school libraries -- the availability goes back to
Robbie Harrison, who was the Minister of Education when the newest
Flora was published. Zinck/Munro will give a list of known Erigeron
species for N.S., and the list should be similar in the old Roland
and Smith (1969??) if you can find one. Cheers, and let us know what
you find, from Jim in Wolfville.

One more thing: your use of "floret" here should be "flower-head" for
members of the daisy or aster family (formerly Compositae, now
Asteraceae, I think), since both the rays and the components of the
disc of the flower-head are the tiny individual florets or flowers.
