Subject: Yellow-breasted Chat, Pine Warbler and Orange-crowned Warbler

Last Thursday I had a ten minute look in the gulley at Spryfield. The Yellow-breasted Chat was an easy find but the Bell's Vireo was not seen so hopefully it has left for warmer climes.

On Friday's stroll at Crystal Crescent Beach Provincial Park I spotted my first Red-necked Grebe of the fall. In the thickets alongside the road a Swamp Sparrow chipped and then popped up to check me out.

Laura and I took a late morning stroll around Point Pleasant Park today and found a Pine Warbler and an Orange-crowned Warbler in the row of pines by the eastern parking lot. There is likely more stuff there but the wind chill kept us moving. We also saw two Purple Sandpipers on the rocks at Black Rock Beach.

At home in Portuguese Cove the American Tree Sparrows have returned in numbers and we still have one Fox Sparrow.
