Today on my way to see the Tundra Swan, I noted an apparent Goshawk
near Exit 11, Hwy. 101 (Wolfville). Although it did not appear to be
much larger than a Cooper's, the bulky body & relatlvely shorter
tail seemed to rule out that species. This individual was flying
over open country and I find that Cooper's are more disposed to doing
that. This is also the period when Cooper's make their rare but
regular appearance in the Valley. There is a caveat to such
sightings; driving at 100k is not ideal for identifying such species!!

At the Windsor Sewage Ponds, there were 18+ A. Wigeons, 1 Eur.
Wigeon, 40 or so Black Ducks, a few Mallards. No unusual gulls and
nary a shorebird even though it was high tide.
