I carry a pair of heavy welder's gloves in my vehicle. I got them to =
help with feral cats when we were heavily into trapping/neutering. Twice =
I have come upon still-alive but mortally wounded porcupines that have =
been hit by a car and left to die by the side of the road. The gloves =
aren't totally impermeable, but do allow me to get the animals into the =
car and to the vet for a quick and painless death.

As Tuma's motto says ' Let us chose the correct behaviour". Sometimes =
this takes a lot of thought and that can be the hardest part.

Oh, I so agree with that. So much so that I have a shovel in my car =
with me and push roadkill to the side of the road or in the ditch if I =
can. We have has 2 eagles in the past month that were killed scavenging =

It seemed to make sense. Any thoughts on this? =20

Yesterday in the late afternoon while driving between Metegan and =
Yarmouth on the 101 I had the unfortunate experience of seeing 2 Barred =
Owls hit by vehicles and killed within 5 minutes of each other. The =
first one literally died in my hands and the second as hit by a large =
truck and was killed instantly.. These owls were about a kilometer a =
part.
