Hi all
Rob Reid, Steve Vines and I made the short trek to Knoydart, Ant. and were able to view the Pink-footed Goose this afternoon.
I positioned Steve in the vehicle so that he was able to get a series of photos of the goose. We agreed with John's view that it is an adult
Pink-footed Goose with a short dark bill with a pink band across the middle. The head was contrasting dark with the lower neck and breast,
and the legs were reasonably pink. Eric Mills has looked at photos and he also felt Pink-footed. I hope Ian will post them later to the RBA
site.
The location was as John Kearney had mentioned they were in the morning in a pasture not far off the Rd. in Knoydart just east of house
(farm) 7037 in the lee of the barn. It was quite windy at the time and snowing a bit for great photography but Steve did a great job given
the weather conditions.
The Geese ( a couple of dozen Canadas as well) were still there in the pasture when we left about 2:45.
cheers
ken
