HI all:
=20
On the Nova Scotia Bird Society Outing yesterday we had aproximately 34 spe=
cies. Some highlights were flocks of snow buntings. 25 birds in Lunenburg=
=2C 45 at Garden Lots and I saw another flock at East Lahave of 20. This b=
ird seems to have come into the area all at once. At Back Centre the day b=
efore there was one. We had a peregrine Falcon at Back Harbour Lunenburg. =
A chipping sparrow was at one of the Lunenburg Feeding stations. Three ye=
llow-rumped warblers were at Garden Lots near the Highliner Plant. At the =
house along Clearway Steet in Mahone Bay there is still one pine warbler wh=
ich is surviving. =20
=20
Kevin Lantz found an American coot at Stevermans Lake at Lilydale=2C which =
I was able to see. It made an appearance three times=2C but each time disa=
ppeared before it could be seen by the others. We went back a second time =
and saw a rail fly out of the grass and near to where the coot had been. T=
his rail was not black like the coot=2C but smaller=2C and brown. I think =
it was actually a Virginia rail. It was not shapped right to have been a s=
ora=2C nor plump enough. We left it as an unknown rail. =20
=20
I had a belted kingfisher at First South.
=20
I have had a report of and pictures sent of two pairs of white-winged cross=
bills which are at Upper LaHave. =20
