In case some haven't heard: Sam van der Kloet, well known botanist, hebarium curator and teacher at Acadia, died suddenly on Friday, Jan. 21st. Sam had an almost legendary passion for his research (on Vaccinium species) and teaching botany and was active to his last moment. I knew Sam from many years back; I always went to him when I wanted to hire "a good botanist" as an undergraduate summer assistant and was never dissapointed. I will miss his wonderful joie de vivre. There will be a memorial service at the Acadia University Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011. His obituary is at http://www.whitefamilyfuneralhome.com/obituaries/59262
