Yes, the usually the chin of a wild mink is white -- and mink against  
a white background of snow and ice can look black but are usually  
dark brown -- however, escaped ranch minks, which are fairly  
widespread in Nova Scotia, I believe, can be quite black and often or  
usually have dark throats/chins.  I once heard a seminar on this by a  
Natural Resources employee whose name I never recorded, a few years  
ago, at the Acadia Biology Seminar.  Cheers from Jim in Wolfville --

P.S. The seal in the original message and photo is a young/yearling?
