MARCH 17, 2011 - Several song sparrows were singing at home this
morning.

On my walk from home to Wolfville downtown, I again checked the raven
nest just north of the Acadia Arena, and today there was a raven in
the nest in incubation posture (who knows what stage this pair is
at?), and a second raven calling and flying very nearby.

MARCH 18, 2011 - This may not be particularly important, but my
overwintered song sparrow cloned itself into two different
individuals -- first noticed today. And, much worse news, a big ugly
Norway rat has appeared at the feeders and inside our garden shed --
hopefully I can trap and remove it fairly quickly, but they are cagy
and trap-wary.

Roy Bishop at Avonport reports that his dull-coloured pine warbler is
still at his feeders, esp. a bird biscuit? (bird pie?), and also both
yesterday and today his feeders hosted about 30 common redpolls, the
first he has seen this winter.

Now I wonder if Sherman Bleakney here in Wolfville still has his
overwintered bright pine warbler?

Cheers from Jim in Wolfville
