Hi All, Well I took a drive to Oakfield Park today. On the way there, in
Waverley at the end of the Cobequid Rd., I spotted a Pileated Woodpecker
flying across the road. Upon my arrival at Oakfied I heard then saw another
Pileated WP in the large, old tree in the field just off the road by the
entrance where everyone parks. In this same area there were also at least 6
Mourning Doves, numerous Red-winged blackbirds, Rusty blackbirds, song
sparrows, BC chickadees, and juncos. Looking over to the lake there were a
few Canada geese as well. Also heard in the distance a Barred Owl call a
couple of times. Have to say this was the most bird activity I have seen in
Oakfield Park. I believe with so many people walking their dogs there it
may scare off some birds. But today I was lucky and there were no dogs
while I was there.
