1 April 2011

The storm is still raging, so I thought that, if you have a bit of
time, you may wish to peruse my photos and videos from our recent
trip to Panama. As Bev and Richard mentioned it is easy to forget
that a Point-and-Shoot Camera has a video option, and this time, in
Panama, I tried to remember using it more often. The videos were
not always successful, but sometimes they were, and they do offer a
different persepective on a trip.

Regarding the photos and videos: while there are some bird shots, of
course, I made an effort to take landscape photos, group photos,
plant photos, and other wildlife (especially butterfly) photos. The
photos are available for viewing here:

My thanks go to Jim Edsall for helping ID many of the butterflies I
photographed, as well as correcting some mistakes I made.

I also uploaded a few short videos (and one L-O-N-G video) to Youtube.

Black Vultures bathing in the Chagres River, Panama

Leafcutter Ants Cleaning House - Pipeline Road, Panama

Bird Feeder Activity at Canopy Lodge, El Valle, Panama - 20-01-2011
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vo62dgXSvjA

(The big brown birds are Clay-colored Thrushes -- this is the
national bird of Costa Rica, by the way. At the start of the video
is a male Tawny-capped Euphonia, and the tiny yellow bird zipping
several times later around is the female. At the 33 second mark
there is a Palm Tanager perched on the top of the tall wooden pole at
the left side of the feeder. There are many Blue-gray Tanagers throughout.)

The L-O-N-G video: Driving the Pipeline Road in Panama

Enjoy.

Cheers,

Blake
